A Dry Gathering Place
Been looking for that third space where you’re surrounded by healthful alternative products and positive and productive people? Wouldn’t it be nice to meet and connect with others of like nature?
Then what you’re looking for a kava bar. (See our “About” page for details.) Ever heard of it? If not, then you’re probably a native Seattleite or Washingtonian because kava bars are prolific in most other areas of the country. As of today, there are more than 400 kava bars in the U.S. and the kava bar industry is one of the fastest growing industries in the nation. There are many reasons why you may not have heard of kava bars, but the most likely one for YOU is that King County does not allow anyone to serve kava. So this has kept the kava bar industry away from Seattle thus far. So even though we can sell it, we can’t serve it.
Most states have several kava bars including Oregon, Idaho, and even Washington! In 2023, Bula Kava House kava bar opened-up in Vancouver, WA (we highly recommend you check it out if/when you get the chance) yet King County still says “NO”. People travel to Seattle from all over the country as well as the world expecting that Seattle is full of kava bars and they’re always shocked to find that there aren’t any. This revelation is oftentimes followed by great disappointment as once again, it leaves our locals as well as our guests with no where else to hang-out and socialize but in alcohol-ridden establishments.
But “Alcohol is so 2019” according to most Americans today. In 2023 the most credible and influential authority on American foods and beverages wrote a very flattering article on the popularity of kava. Food & Wine magazine states that “More Americans than ever before are embracing non-alcoholic versions of their favorite beverages. Perhaps no such beverage has exploded in popularity as much as kava. The beverage is said to relax the body and calm the mind.” So don’t just take our word for it: do your research and then come visit us!
Here at Swamp Cow Kava Lounge our goal is simply to provide you with the best curated collection of brands and products that you can find in one spot while offering a welcoming and ambient environment with ample comfortable seating, free, WiFi, a full-bodied sound system, local artist’s works displayed on the walls, and a moderate stage for local artists and performers.
Because of this decision made by King County, Swamp Cow is not a kava bar but rather a kava lounge A Dry Gathering Place. Which is similar, but slightly different. So stop by and see us to discover the enjoyment and benefits of kava etc. in our swanky swamp lounge! We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you into the kava culture community. We are confident that you’ll enjoy it all as much as we do!
